Kool Skool is run by Jeremy and Hilary Payne, both of whom are qualified primary school educators.  Jeremy is currently a Deputy Headteacher and Hilary was on the Senior Leadership Team before taking a break to bring up our boys (we’ve got five of them…).  Jeremy is a Master Member of the Institute of Videography and has a background in television production, having worked for Channel 4, ITV and various independent production companies.

We have seen the school system from inside and out and we understand that one of the key challenges for schools is to communicate effectively with their communities.  With such communication comes trust, engagement and involvement, all of which are crucial to supporting the development of the little people who pass through our doors.

Our concept is simple – we look at things that are dull, stale and out of date and we shake our heads a little, thinking ‘Surely in this day and age we could be doing better?’  So we set about doing it better.  We began with wedding films back in 2002.  At that time most such films were cheesy, boring and cringeworthy productions of days that were so much more than that.  We saw how they could be done better, and so we started to make them ourselves.  Two National awards later, we continue to make fantastic wedding films for people, but we wanted a new challenge and so we turned our attention to our other love – schools and education.

One of the key tools for communication is a website, however almost every school website we have seen is out of date and static – frozen in the mists of time, either because OFSTED are on their way and ‘we have more important things to think about‘, or because the keeno who set up the website has left the school and no-one else knows how to do anything with it….

So here we are, with our brand new breed of school websites and films – ones that update regularly, that all staff can be a part of and that engage, energise and excite your community.  If you’re reading this then the chances are you have clicked on the link at the bottom of one of our sites so you know what we can do already.

Websites we build come with a fully illustrated manual that can be placed on your school’s network so that everyone can take part in the process and help maintain the site.  Download a small sample by clicking here.  We are able to come and provide a starting INSET session to demonstrate the website in practice and teach everyone the basics if you wish, but trust us, you won’t need much support.  Our websites are specifically built to be accessible to teachers without any need for anything more than a basic knowledge of ICT.  If your teachers can use ‘Word’, ‘Powerpoint’ or ‘Publisher’, then they will find this remarkably simple.
